If Winter comes Can Spring be far behind? (Percy Bysshe Shelley)

Stepping in to the garden this morning was like stepping into an energy field. The air was crisp with the lightest of airy blue skies and I was surrounded by the sounds of blackbirds quarrelling, robins singing and the neighbour's hens making happy hen noises.

Leaves and twigs were brushed with the lightest of frost and in the sunlight they sparkled and twinkled catching my eye, filling me with joy. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly my spirit is lifted by days like these.

Whilst I was out, I fed the birds and cracked the glassy lid of ice on all their watering holes. I knew I was being watched as the trees rustled with blackbirds leaning forward to see what I'd left for them.

The cat has remained in bed - as is her want - she is a a bit of an 'old dear' and likes her creature comforts and usually I want to do the same, but not today.

Today is too beautiful to miss.

  3. What a lovely description. Sounds like a "sap rising" day. Those snowdrops are divine.
I'm always hesitant to comment, it's so easy from a distance to say something unintentionally wrong/personal/critical/hurtful. But may I just say how lovely it is to hear your excitement as you enjoyed the quickening energy. You've worked so hard at beating off the incipient SAD-like demons - this sounds as though they are vanquished for today. You'll know that is more certain when kitty-cat emerges too ...

  4. I don't blame the cat, it was Baltic yesterday although I loved how light it was at 7.30am! xxx

  5. A beautiful winter's morning. I can always tell when it is really cold, because the cats will need to drink from their water bowl instead of the container pond, as it has frozen over. X

    1. Can I say, I don't blame them! Once lick of the outside water - they'd get brain freeze!๐Ÿ˜

    1. For something so delicate - to be the first up - almost a winter flower - shows some 'inner steely strength' ๐Ÿ˜

  7. Days like this are worth the wait for. I, like your cat, had hoped to stay in bed for a little longer today but a tawny owl was calling and calling and calling so I had to get up.... but it's good to know we have an owl nearby, one we've yet to see. x
