Hi, Willow here ...
What is she on?
Any huff, as I said, she says our walks are like the DOG pawcast...... As we go along, she rattles off the list of places we have walked ..... Dead Duck lane, Stunsteads, Fridge Farm, White Goose Field, The Rec, The Souterills, Killer Chicken Quarry, Bough Gap, Crow Quarry, Watering trough, Ol' Joe's Lane, Peter's Field and back down Dead Duck Lane.Apparently according to her only one or two of those places is on a real paper map (wot ever that is) and the rest are a mix of village folklore, myth and legend (once again I ask ... what is she on?)
Wot ever - as long as I can sniff the peemails and check out any other interesting smells - I am a happy wuffo. Home now, eaten a biscuit coz apparently Iz been very good (though I was all the time) and now I am off to snuggle my duvet.
Hilarious. Willow's definitely perking up. x
ReplyDeleteThank you 🐾
DeleteI love the old names given in rural places, my birth village has plenty of them.
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame the old names are not used, with modern maps and the internet, there is very little chance of these place names lasting, dying out with the older villagers. Partly why I use them and when the boys were still at home, they knew exactly where I meant.
DeleteLoved hearing the place names, especially from the nose vantage point of Willow.
ReplyDeleteThat was just a snippet of names, there will be so many more around the village, we're lucky to have a very active historian who happily shared what she knows
DeleteNice to make your acquaintance Willow...look after that human please!!
ReplyDelete😊will(ow) do!
DeleteI've been lucky enough to meet Willow. She is gorgeous. Still a bit nervous but settling into her new family who adore her. She is very lucky to have found a home with Hawthorn and family.
ReplyDeleteThank you 😊🐾
DeleteWillow is a great narrator, even if she doesn't understand what her human is on about! She deserves her biscuit treats (as does her human!)
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Ellie
Chuckle - we both say thank you ! (and biscuits were a definite when we returned)
DeleteKiller Chicken Quarry sounds a bit scary. 🤔😄
ReplyDeleteSadly a true story although the chicken was not actually the killer, rather the catalyst for the farmer's death.
