April 2025 (my last post) was some time ago - a lot has happened yet nothing has happened. A life time of stories yet just a blink of an eye leading to the same point - today.
However, this year is a restart and as such needs a word that will live up to 'my expectations' (so it's got to be a good one) I've played around looking at words like 'quirky', 'whimsical', 'Magical' and they all feel - a bit young for me.
I rather liked this ....
“You are never to old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” ~C.S. Lewis
However, you may have noticed it is more than one word! I like optimism - it has a strength, a gentle strength and as a word it is rather optimistic! So, let me introduce to you my word of the year π©΅
Do you have a word of the year?
Did you find it helped?
And, if despite my absence you are still out there - please say hello - I have missed this space.
Im still out there! nice to see you back. Blogland seems to have lost quite a few seasoned bloggers, possibly to instagram. I don't have a word but I quite like yours. I do have a motto though - It won't happen unless you make it happen! and I have found it to be true, if I want something to happen I usually have to put some effort into cause and effect to get there. Wishing you happy blogging this year.

Hi Betty, glad to see you are also still around. π
DeleteI like the 'ππ₯ π¨π π'π₯ πππ‘π‘ππ π¦ππππ€π€ πͺπ π¦ ππππ ππ₯ πππ‘π‘ππ' so true and definitely a good mantra to follow x
Great to.see.you Kate
ReplyDeleteNo special word.just 'give it a whirl'.for.2026 I think
Thank you π
DeleteAnd I think your 'give it a whirl' on 'Mischief Mondays' is the way to go for 2026 x
Welcome back! My heart gave a little jump when I saw your post - it's always good to hear from old friends. (Even though I'm not a good enough friend to comment very often.)
ReplyDeleteI like your word choice and hope it defines your year.
Back in December I came across a post on FB which presented a seemingly random array of letters and suggested you record the four words that stood out for you from it. These words would be your mantra for the coming year. My words were power, breakthrough, strength and selfcare. I'm still not really sure what to make of them, but time will tell.
aww thank you π
DeleteWow - your four words definitely have a strength to them - hope you've written them up somewhere so that when you really need them - they are there for you to see.
Country lass,
ReplyDeleteHi Kate, good to see you back I have missed you.
I checked every so often to make sure I hadn't missed you.
My word for this year is nurture, not just myself, but friendships and my surroundings.
As I age some of my friends and relatives are no longer here, either passed away or moved away. That's sad, I need to nurture what remains. Friendship is so very precious.
Love, country lass
π©·thank you x
DeleteI fully intend on being having more presence this year, the last few years felt to draw a lot from me, leaving very little left. 2026 just might be the one that releases all that!
Nurture is a good and deep word, for so many reasons - sending hugs x
HI Kate. Still here and soooooo lovely to hear from you. I hope you are well and I think you have chosen a fabulous word for 2026. I have no word … just a long list of boring house and garden maintenance jobs that I really must get licked this year. Take care … Carol x
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, nice to hear from you - how about 'renew' as your word? would certainly give 'boring house and garden maintenance jobs' a more uplifting feel πI find I often put off doing those sort of jobs, so anything that helps them get them done haha
DeleteGlad to see you back here.
ReplyDeleteSome bloggers are coming back to blogging, gradually.
Pohangina Pete for one. You'd love his writing if you hadn't already found it.
Some are going to Substack.
georgepenneyauthor ....go have a read.
I'm still blogging away. It keeps me going.
I found I'd lost my inspiration - my work required me to write a daily post and by the time I'd done a full day, then mustered the energy to write some cheerful waffle for work, I had nothing left to give to blogging - which is why I did IG - it asks for less, needs less effort - but equally gives less back (lesson learnt?) but seeing I have only a few days left before I am gainfully π°π©πππ π❀πππΉ !! - I thought I would dip my toe in and see how things were :)
DeleteI like the CS Lewis quote....
ReplyDeleteMe too xx
DeleteIt was lovely to see a comment from you, Kate! I was wondering where you'd gone.
ReplyDeleteI have no word but love your choice, something we all need in this current climate! xxx
Thank you lovely lady - not gone - just below the parapet and now resurfacing. xx
DeleteI like the idea of a word for the year. You have me thinking. I feel so in the dumps lately that I need a good strong word to shake me out of it.
ReplyDeleteJust popped over from gz's blog. Glad I did!
Hi, Granny Sue - thank you for your comment, glad to 'meet' you.π
DeleteI need that 'word' to help rally me when I need it. Give it a try - just might help x
What a lovely surprise to see your returning post, Kate, and welcome back. As many have already said, I've missed you and your news. Instagram isn't quite the same. I don't have a special word or saying for 2026, but I will pay more careful attention now in case one crops up!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes -
Hi Beth, and thank you x
DeleteI agree re IG - it does have its 'moment' but blogging seems more community based with a group of like minded souls where IG seems to encourage flashy show off posts making everyone else feel rather lacking!
Welcome back!!!! I have been checking regularly but not for the last week or so and that's why I missed your return. Unemployed..... a word of warning about this; you will find you still do not have much time.... I don't have a word for the new year as such. I do have phrases 'have fun', 'make more Project Linus quilts', 'keep plodding on'. I like your word. I'll try to think of a word about me but I'm not making promises! xx
ReplyDeletethank you! I do have an ever increasing list of things to do and I've not stopped yet ...
DeleteMy word of the year has just sprung into my mind - productive (be it sewing, de-cluttering, gardening, enjoying life, etc). x
ReplyDelete'Productive' yes (nodding head as I type) that is definitely a 'you-word' - a very good choice xx
